Given that West Greece has a blend of terrains, a compact vehicle is preferable for city driving, while an SUV might be better suited if you plan on adventuring off-road. Don't forget, drive on the right side of the road in Greece, unlike the left side driving in the UK!
Stopping at roadside stands and in small village cafes for fresh local produce is a must! In town, Greeks predominantly drink coffee in the afternoon, unlike the typical British tea time. And whilst at the cafe, why not try a local pastry?
Weather in West Greece differs significantly from the British climate. Greece enjoys a Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures and a limited amount of rainfall. Always carry a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated during the summer months.
Note that Greece uses the euro, not the pound. Credit cards are widely accepted, but carrying a little cash may come in handy for smaller, local vendors.
Greece has been praised for its handling of Covid-19, and has implemented strong safety measures to ensure that places can be enjoyed while still maintaining safety standards. Masks are generally required indoors and in crowded outdoor spaces.
