Getting There
Tampico is served by General Francisco Javier Mina International Airport. It offers direct flights from and to several cities. Upon your arrival, various car rental services are available at the airport for your convenience. If you're familiar with driving on the left like in the UK, keep in mind, in Mexico, we drive on the right-hand side of the road.
Driving Tips for UK Visitors
- Right-hand driving: Unlike in the UK, vehicles in Mexico use the right-hand lane. Make sure to stay on the right side of the road to avoid any confusion.
- Traffic signs: Traffic signs are in Spanish. Make a note to familiarize yourself with key phrases like 'Alto' (Stop), 'Velocidad Máxima' (Maximum Speed) and 'No Estacionar' (No Parking).
- Speed limits: Speed limits in Mexico are posted in Kilometres per hour. Usually, on highways it is 100-110km/h and in urban areas, it is 30-40km/h. Conversion should be easy if you are used to Miles per hour.
