How does the rental car booking work without a deposit?

Our partners Sunny Cars and Enterprise offer rental cars without a deposit for some locations. So you can book your rental car without a deposit and sometimes even without a credit card.

With the so-called "No Deposit Package", the deposit is paid by Sunny Cars. If after the return of the rental car there is complete or partial retention of the deposit deposited by Sunny Cars for you by the vehicle fleet provider, you must refund the retained amount to Sunny Cars.

At Enterprise you can rent the rental car without a deposit at German locations if you can pay with a valid credit card when renting on-site. If you provide your credit card details when you pay on-site, you must ensure that the credit card belongs to one of the drivers.

Where is the deposit for the rental car to be deposited?

With the "No Deposit Package", the deposit is deposited for you by the partner Sunny Cars with the provider. This means that, as with the standard booking, a deposit is deposited as security at the rental station on site. However, you do not have to interpret it.

How much is the rental car deposit usually?

In general, the deposit is approximately the amount of a tank filling or, depending on the vehicle class, up to 500 euros. In some countries, the credit card coverage required by vehicle fleet providers is also more than 1,000 euros. In many cases, you can deposit the amount of the deposit in cash or in your credit card. In most cases, the amount of the deposit depends directly on the agreed excess. The purpose of this is that the amount of the deductible is covered directly in the event of damage.

Why is the deposit for the rental car necessary?

The deposit serves as a security for the vehicle fleet provider or the car rental company on-site, in the event that for some reason you cannot return your rental car in the same condition that you received it when you picked up the rental car. In addition, each vehicle fleet provider can handle security retention differently on site. Information on this can always be found in the rental terms of your individual offer.

Important information about picking up a rental car

So that in the event of damage you only have to pay for the damage that you are actually responsible for, we recommend that you document all existing defects when you pick up the rental car and have them confirmed by the car rental agent on site.
