Despite differences to UK airports, Lwiw strives to provide a familiar atmosphere with helpful signage in English to guide your journey through immigration, baggage claim, and customs. Major credit cards are accepted at money exchanges inside the airport, or you could opt for an ATM withdrawal in Ukrainian Hryvnia (₴) to ensure you are ready for the road trip ahead.
The car rental counters, served by internationally recognised companies such as Hertz, Avis, Budget, and Sixt, are conveniently located next to the arrival area. Ensure to bring along your UK driving license and an International Driving Permit, as these will be required when renting a car.
The car class you choose largely depends on what you intend to do during your stay:
Worried about finding reliable petrol stations? Worry no more. There are several options, including WOG and OKKO, located near the airport and along key routes throughout the city. For driving routes, Google Maps is sufficiently detailed for most trips. Just remember, unlike in the UK, you'll need to keep right while driving in Ukraine.
Car hire allows easy accessibility to idyllic towns such as Olesko, Pidhirtsi, and Zolochiv. These towns are home to iconic Ukrainian castles and offer a glimpse into the area's fascinating history and culture, all within 1.5 hours drive from the airport.
