Pay special attention to speed limits; in urban areas the usual limit is 50km/h whilst out of town this increases to 80km/h.
For city driving, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything more convenient than a compact or economy class car. Meanwhile, family-sized vehicles or SUVs are perfect if you're planning to explore the scenic countryside surrounding Dunkerque.
Parking in Dunkerque is generally stress-free, but do lookout for 'Zone Bleue' areas, where parking is free but time-restricted. A Blue Disk is required to indicate your arrival time and can be obtained from local businesses or the Tourist Office.
