This airport, coded CNQ in aviation parlance, is the main gateway to the city of Corrientes. It's smaller than what you may be used to in the UK, but it's efficiently run and offers the necessary amenities for a comfortable transit.
You'll find car rental services right in the terminal. Do remember that in Argentina, cars are driven on the right side of the road. This might take a bit of getting used to if you're from the UK and are used to left-side driving. It might be helpful to take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with your rental car before setting off.
Corrientes City, the capital of Corrientes Province, is a mere 10km away from the airport. The fastest route into the city is via Route 12.
There are several petrol stations close to the airport and on the way to Corrientes City.
Corrientes boasts lovely subtropical weather, contrasting the climates you're used to in the UK. It's worth packing lightweight clothing and a good-quality sunscreen.
The local currency is the Argentine Peso (ARS), and it's worth noting that Argentina has a cash culture. Not all establishments accept credit cards, and ATMs can sometimes run out of cash. Our advice would be to bring some cash and exchange it at the reputable cambios once you arrive.
There's so much to see and do in Corrientes. From exploring the historic old town where you can enjoy colonial architecture to visiting the city's riverside; there's something for everyone. And with the convenience of a rental car ready as soon as you step off the plane, you're free to explore at your leisure. Happy Travels!
