The city’s grid layout makes navigation straightforward. Watch out for peak hour traffic in the mornings (between 7 and 9 am) and in the late afternoons (between 4 and 6 pm).
The roads in Cochabamba, and more broadly in Bolivia, can differ significantly from what you're used to in the UK, with more unpredictable elements to consider. Renting a 4WD vehicle is recommended, especially for trips outside of the city. The 4x4 is a safe choice for both rough terrains and city streets.
Street parking is available but it's more advisable to use the local parking garages known as 'parqueos'.
Use your rental car to visit fantastic places like Cristo de la Concordia, one of the largest statues of Jesus in the world, or the architecturally stunning Cochabamba Cathedral. Remember that in Bolivia, they drive on the right-hand side of the road. Speed limits vary but are often lower than in the UK. Mobile use while driving is illegal, and seatbelts must be worn at all times.

The currency in Bolivia is the Boliviano. Cash is the preferred payment method in many places, although most hotels and some restaurants and shops accept credit cards.
