Parking in Christchurch can be found both on-street or in car parks, some are free for a certain period but be sure to check the signage. Always park facing the direction of the traffic flow, contrary to what is commonly done in Britain.
Aided with a rental car, Christchurch and its surroundings become an explorer’s dream. Here’s a little taster of the delights that await you:
The currency here is the New Zealand Dollar (NZD). As for the weather, Christchurch enjoys a temperate, oceanic climate. It can get quite hot in the summer (Dec-Feb), with temperatures hitting 30°C. In winter (Jun-Aug), it usually remains above freezing, but do bring warm clothing if you're visiting during this period.
From sports events to food and wine festivals, Christchurch has something happening all year round. The SummerTimes festival from December to February is particularly popular, with a host of outdoor entertainment and fun-filled activities for the whole family.
