Just like driving on the left-hand side in Britain, driving in Quebec is done on the right-hand side of the road. And, much to your convenience, road signs here are bilingual – in both French and English.
Given the nature of Quebec's vast terrain and somewhat less predictable weather, a sturdy yet comfortable SUV or all-wheel drive car is recommended for all year round travels. This allows for smooth and competent driving throughout the abundant snowfall during winter months, and lets you venture off-road to explore the beauty of Quebec's wilderness.
Speed limits are marked in kilometers per hour (km/h), not miles per hour (mph) - so make sure to keep an eye on your speedometer! Zones in built-up areas usually have a limit of 50 km/h while the rural roads allow for a speed of 90 km/h.
Parking, like in any location, depending on the area, can be free or paid. Throughout L'Anse-Pleureuse there are ample car parks with reasonable rates and free parking options also being abundantly available.

Explore the cities of Gaspé and Percé to the north and south of L'Anse-Pleureuse respectively. With excellent scenic routes linking these cities, you are sure to enjoy the drive as much as the destination.
The weather in Quebec, much like in Britain, can be somewhat unpredictable, varying from humid summers to cold and snowy winters. So we recommend checking the weather forecast before setting out on your adventures each day.
When renting a car, it may be helpful to carry a GPS or use a smartphone with live traffic data. This will help you avoid traffic jams and navigate your way around the city like a true local.
Winter or summer, rain or shine - L'Anse-Pleureuse and indeed Quebec as a whole offers a wealth of beauty and adventure to all who visit. Remember, it’s not about the destination, but the journey you take to get there! Happy Travels!
